Purpose
Camp Waterdown is a fully integrated, non-profit organization designed to meet the needs of the families and children in the community. Since the opening of Waterdown District children’s Centre in 1992, we have been successful in creating an excellent reputation within the local, as well as the professional communities.
In 2013 we expanded our Camp Programs to provide a wide range of activities and experiences by utilizing camp themes with experts from specific fields of interest to our children.
In 2014 we are introducing more technology based interests, and also expanding our leadership training opportunities for youth aged 13 – 16 (no fee, volunteer based).
We believe in the importance of employing and training qualified, caring individuals who will ensure a safe, comfortable and stimulating environment for your children.
Our Mission:
- Provide an opportunity for a child to interact with adults and peers in different social settings
- Provide an environment where a child can develop a variety of ways of problem-solving, reasoning and other ways of thinking
- Provide opportunities and activities to assist in the development of the whole child through exploration and interaction with their environment
- Help a child identify and communicate needs, feelings and ideas, both verbally and non-verbally and assist them in listening and comprehension skills
We are a non-profit charitable organization, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of parents, community members, and fellow educators. The Board is responsible for overseeing the Centre in its entirety. They meet monthly to discuss various issues ranging from parental concerns, personal issues, quality of care, budget planning, etc. We employ a well-seasoned Director to oversee the program and ECE (Early Childhood Educator) Certified care providers and well trained staff to help administer our programming.
